Dec7th
Argghhhh
I’m not happy right now. Last time I wrote about my 52nd place at WPT Foxwoods that paid 50 spots, and how I finished 20th last week in the $2500 event that paid 18 spots.
I had to skip two Bellagio events for the $15,000 event at the Venetian. It only had 57 players, so my 14th place finish was not good enough to make the money. I did get some TV time, but it’s only gonna be on the MOJO network which no one seems to watch. I will also be embarrassed because I was forced to call off all my chips with a straight flush draw on the turn because I took a check raise line instead of a bet, 3 bet all-in line that I should have taken.
And yesterday, to top it all off, I finished 28th in the $3,000 event at the Bellagio that paid 27 spots. Like I said. I’m not too happy right now. In the final hand it folded to me in the small blind, and my stack was about 4 times the size of the pot, so I moved in with KJs, a completely standard play, but ran into Mario aka Pwnasaurus’ KQ.
I am still up in cash games here, but barely anything at all since I dropped $11,000 in my last session.
I’ve been playing kind of sloppy, making lots of small mistakes, and they seem to be costing me an unfair amount of money. You ever call a small amount of chips off with a hand preflop, and before the flop comes, you think, “That call was probably slightly -ev, but oh well. There’s no way it can possibly cost me a significant amount of equity.” And then you flop a huge 2nd best hand and lose half your stack? I feel like that has happened to me a totally unfair amount of times the last two weeks. But like always, I’m being extremely hard on myself for playing sloppy in the first place. Last night may have been a wake up call because of the way a couple hands played out earlier in the day. I think I know exactly what adjustments I need to make in my game, and I should have no problem playing my A game in the two 5k’s and the 15k main event that are coming up.
Wish me luck!
