Weeeeeeeee. Had a great winning session in the cash games tonight.

All week I’ve been trying to grind at 200/400 mixed games, but the games have never been great, and I’ve been running terribly at Badougi.

Tonight I made all my losses back and more at 25/50 NL. Won about $35,000 total.

The hand of the night was against Huck Seed.

I raised Q7hh to 200 from the button, and he called from the big blind.

The flop came Q75 with two clubs. He checked, I bet 425, he checkraised to 1600, I reraised to 4200, and he moved all-in for 20k. I called and asked if he wanted to run it twice. He said sure but the dealer said they weren’t allowed (I could have sworn that they recently started allowing this at the Bellagio, but the floor person said no).

We decided we would just go to twodimes.net/poker and figure out our equity, and split the money according to that. Good thing too, because he hit his flush. So instead of losing 20k, I ended up winning 5k that hand.

We had some chats after about how few poker players are level headed enough to try and reduce their variance like that. I like Huck a lot. He’s a really nice guy, and very intelligent too.

After this session, I’m thinking that there just aren’t enough fish playing the mixed games to justify me not playing these great NL games. I want to get better at the mixed games, but the cost is just too high with these NL games going on.
