October November Results

The past two months have been insane for me, so I thought I'd share my results. In MTT's, I had that big $110k score, but other than that, I didn't have any impressive results (unless winning a WPT seat counts). My luck in SNGs has just been sick, so here are the results: PartyPoker: 2000 150 Total played = 20 Total Profit = $29500 ROI = 68.60% 1000 65 Total played = 38 Total Profit = $10530 ROI = 26.02% 400 30 Total Played = 102 Total Profit = $7640 ROI = 17.42% 200 15 Total Played = 115 Total Profit = $2075 ROI = 8.39% PokerStars: 525 30 Total Played = 81 Total Profit = $15,525 ROI = 34.53% 1000 50 Total Played = ...

Live Long Enough to Live Forever

I’ve been getting a few requests lately to write about my day to day life in my blog, so here goes nothing. I recently read a book called Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever by Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman. The second chapter is preceded by this quotation: “Life expectancy will be in the region of 5,000 years… by the year 2100.” – Aubrey De Grey Obviously this sounds pretty crazy. It is extremely optimistic, but the truth is that radical life extension has already started. Don’t forget the average life expectancy for humans was around forty years just a ...

Thanksgiving

The last time I took some time off from high stakes SNGs and tournaments was to play 1,000 200 15 sit'n'gos. That turned out pretty well. I made around 30k over those 1,000 SNGS. The day after I finished the quest, however, I returned to the ring and had an amazing day. I made 37k in a single day from higher sit'n'gos ranging from 400's all the way to 5k buyins. Somehow, I managed to complete a long, tough, goal (the 1,000 sngs), and then I shattered that accomplishment the very day after I finished. This time around, I took some ...

Back to the Old Routine

I didn't play any poker last week except for Sunday and Monday. Again, I've been doing boring wholesome stuff like going to the gym and cooking. Also, the internet was down a lot, but I think we finally got the problem fixed. Ian is back in town for a while. He's our 4th roommate. I wrote a few blogs about him a while back, namely the one about the time he left the keys in the car with the ignition running while we saw a movie. On Saturday I got a much needed massage. The masseuse started with my lower body. ...

An Update! (Finally)

First off, I have to apologize for the lack of updates, but this time it's not entirely my fault. At first I wasn't updating because I simply haven't been playing much poker, but for the past 4-5 days, my internet connection has been out. Adelphia Cable in the LA area is crap. Avoid it at all costs. I think that we are the maximum distance from a DSL hub or something, so that's not an option. We're basically forced to stick it out with Adelphia, but I'm going to equip my laptop with Verizon's nationwide wireless as a backup plan. ...

The Boys Are Back in Town

People have been asking me what I've done since my big win, so I guess I need to share that with my readers, although it's not too exciting. On Sunday (the day after the 110k win), I took my brother and Dean (my two roommates in LA) out to a sushi dinner. We went to Katsu-ya, a very nice sushi place. I actually ran into a friend there (who wishes to remain nameless). That reminds me... I was planning a trip to EPT Dublin and the Masters Classic in Amsterdam with him, but decided against going. He was pretty upset with me ...

A HUGE Score!

I had a huge score today. I played the $600 40 Million Dollar Guarenteed tourney on Party. There were 1727 players and I finished 2nd. It paid $110,000. This is the biggest score I've ever had before, and it feels great. All the pieces just fell into the right place yesterday. Early on I played a standard tight-solid game, making a few big plays when the opportunity arose. Here's one that I particularly liked: http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=152273 Basically I was representing KQ or AK, and that's exactly what he put me on. My guess is he had a mid pair like 88 or 99. Starting ...
