Once

Wow. I am just completely blown away right now. I just saw the movie Once, and wow - just wow. I don't think I've ever been moved this much by a movie before. The story is very simple. There's nothing amazing there. Basically there's a musician, and he meets another musician, and together they make some amazing music. The music in this movie is just so beautiful. I've only felt this way a few times in my life before, and each time it has been after one of the few concerts that have stood out among the 100 concerts that I have been to. ...

Stuff

We finally got the living room setup. We have a very nice 3 piece leather couch set, a coffee table, and a big screen LCD / HDTV. It will definitely be a chill place to hang out. I played some 5/10 NL on Party the other day. I played 8 tables for 10 hours straight. I guess I ran pretty good as I finished up about 8k. I'll probably be spending a lot more time in that game in the near future. Last night I went out to a restaurant called Palamino with two guys from 2 2: ChrisD and Mikewvp. We ...

HORSE!

Lately I've been talking about WSOP tourney selection strategies with friends, and I've mentioned that I plan on playing lots of non-holdem events. Almost everyone responded the same way. "I didn't know you played mix games". I actually started off as a limit holdem player, and I've done my share of dabbling in a bunch of mixed games. I actually think I'm pretty good at horse. Yesterday (Saturday) I played my first ever live horse tournament. It was a $3,000 buyin, and it had 64 entries. Things started off great. There were only 320,000 chips in play, but I had 75,000 chips when there ...

Overdue Update – Tunica

First of all, sorry for the lack of updates. As you know, I’ve been traveling non-stop. Here is everything that has happened over the past two months as best as I can recall from my almost non-existent notes. The details are a little fuzzy in some of the smaller tournaments, but I put some of the interesting hands in from the bigger events. The day after my win in the Bahamas, I flew directly to Tunica with my new partner in crime: Alan Sass. Expect big things from him in the future. Unfortunately, Tunica didn’t go so well. There were a bunch ...

Bellagio 25k Main Event

Sorry for the lack of updates! I’ve been at the Bellagio this whole month, so let’s see how concise I can make this summary. I had no luck whatsoever in any of the preliminary tournaments. I built up one nice stack, but lost it all in a coinflip vs JC Tran. I think I wrote about that already. I played some of the satellites for the main event, not because I wanted an entry (I think satellites are a terrible way to reduce variance), but because since I was planning on entering anyway, they were basically tournaments with $25,000 prizes. I managed ...

Bellagio Update

So I've been playing the Bellagio tournaments since they started on the 7th. No results yet unfortunately. I've been playing well, but the all-ins haven't been very friendly to me at all. I've lost a lot of 70/30's, and a few crucial coinflips, but that's to be expected. I played the $3,000 event yesterday, and was doing really well. At 300/600 blinds, JC Tran raised to 1700 on the cutoff. Alex? (sorry if I got the name wrong) called on the button. I had AKo in the SB, and JC knows that I know how loose he is, and that I'm not afraid ...

Brand New x3

The Bellagio tournaments start on April 7th which works out perfectly for me to see Brand New three nights in a row. They played in LA last night, and are playing again tonight, and then they are playing in Las Vegas tomorrow. Naturally, I got tickets to all three nights. This isn't anything that unusual for me. My record is seeing a band three times in two nights (Live, back when they still used to be good). The show last night was amazing. Even the opening band was possibly the best opening act I had ever seen (not including concerts that I ...
