Quick Update from Bellagio

Last blog I wrote I left off going into the final table with a severe short stack (was 9/9, and the guy in 8th had almost 4x as many chips as me). No miracles happened, and I finished 9th. It paid $13,000.

The main event didn’t go very well. I got top pair and a flush draw all-in vs an overpair on the turn for all my chips. He made a pretty huge call with jacks (overpair to the board), and my 14 outer whiffed.

As I walked out, I ran into Durrr who had also busted and was heading back to Boston with his parents. I hitched a ride off of them and made it to the airport by 7pm for my 8:20pm flight. It was delayed about 2 hours, but I managed to get settled in at the Bellagio in Vegas before 2am PST, just in time to get a good night’s sleep before the 5k tourney here, except for the fact that I opted to order room service despite the wait that was over an hour. I ended up going to sleep at about 4am.

I couldn’t make anything happen in the 5k or the 2k the next day, but I’ve gotten into a cash game groove that I like. I’ve played about 15 hours of mixed games over the past 2 days, and plan on continuing. I’m down a small amount so far, but nothing meaningful. The games are tough, but I’ve been playing really well.

Tomorrow I’m actually going to *gasp* skip the $2,500 tourney! The fields have been very low due to the overlap with Foxwoods, San Remo, and Monte Carlo all happening around the same time. I also desperately need a hair cut. I’ll prolly get an early afternoon haircut, and then play cash games all day.

If I start doing well in cash games, I might actually skip some more tournaments!! We’ll see how things go before I commit to any of that crazy talk.

Just wanted to update you guys…
