The WPT is in Town, and I Made a Day Two Already!
The WPT is in town!
The Bike has been running a bunch of tournaments leading up to the Legends of Poker. They are mostly smaller buyins which I don’t play, but yesterday I played the first big event they had, the $2,500 NL.
I haven’t played any live poker since the Bellagio Cup, but I managed to play my A game anyway.
We started with 5,000 chips, and I grinded a small stack, playing really tight for hours. By the 200/400 level, I never once had above 7,000 chips. I finally managed to double up, and never looked back.
I was up to over 60,000 chips at one point, but lost a lot of those when I got KQs all-in preflop against QJs and got sucked out on, but I still ended the day with a healthy stack. We started with 130ish players and played down to the money (18 players). The average stack is somewhere around 35,000, and I have 46,000.
We start back up at 7pm today, so I have plenty of time to relax before I gotta head back over to the bike.
The prize pool is kind of small. 1st place is somewhere around $130k, and 4th place is only $19k.
I’ve been trying to get over the $200k hump for a while (I’ll talk more about this later), and I guess I won’t have a chance at it today, but it would still be a nice payday if I could pull out a win.
